Our Story – From Hunter Metals to Melsteel

Before Melsteel, our business began as Hunter Metals, founded more than 40 years ago by brothers Russell, David, and Ian Hunter. What started as a small, family-run steel company has grown into a trusted name in the industry, and the same three directors continue to lead the business today.

One special reminder of our early years is a truck we owned over 43 years ago. We reacquired the original doors from that very truck, bringing back strong memories of the beginnings of our journey. This story is more than just history, it’s a symbol of our commitment to hard work, family values, and the steel industry that has shaped who we are.
